It is a real pleasure, as the Headteacher of Bishops Lydeard Church of England Primary School, to welcome you to our website and to our school.
Our happy and caring school is a medium sized primary school, with one class per year group from Reception to Year 6. We are extremely fortunate with our location, as we are situated in the centre of the popular Somerset village of Bishops Lydeard and at the foot of the stunning Quantocks Hills.
The school maintains a number of traditions and church school ethos whilst at the same time embracing change to ensure we equip our children for the 21st century. We want our children to enjoy coming to school and to be enthusiastic about learning. We have a team of hardworking and committed staff who are dedicated to doing the very best for all children. We will nurture and encourage children and hopefully, inspire them to be active participants in their own development and education.
If you would like to know more about our school, you are very welcome to come and visit. The children of Bishops Lydeard very much enjoy talking about and sharing their achievements and what life is truly like at this school.
Mrs Mary Clothier
Believe it or not but it has been a year since I took up the substantive Headship post at Bishops Lydeard. I recently attended a Headteachers conference where we had to reflect on our last year, noting down the improvements and how our school is moving forward. It was the perfect opportunity for me to stop and think about what a privilege it has been to watch this school grow and develop and to be part of this exciting journey to excellence.school. I won’t pretend it hasn’t been hard work or everyone, but at every stage the commitment from all has given me confidence that the months ahead will be months of further success and achievement.
I would personally like to thank the parents for their support throughout the year. Feedback from parents has really helped us to shape the school and move forward; with the child being at the heart of everything we do. We have made rapid progress against the School Development Plan (SDP) and it has been wonderful to receive so many positive comments from our community which reflect the growing confidence in our
